Established in 1982, Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is an internationally acclaimed Institution, which offers training program, academic courses and advisory in wildlife research and management. The Institute is actively engaged in research across the breadth of the country on biodiversity related issues.
The Institute's idyllic campus that has been carefully developed to create state of the art infrastructure encourages scholarly work.
Sports:
To ensure overall development of every resident, the institute provides all the required facilities for sports and recreation. There is a large playground and floodlit tennis, badminton and basketball courts.
A long nature trail around the artificial lake within the campus is used extensively for both jogging and walking by the students and faculty alike.
Each year students and staff participate in the Annual All India Forest Sports meet.
The institute is a residential institute and provides accommodation to students and trainees recruited under various academic programmes. There are two hostels located within the campus, with each functioning as an independent unit with respect to its internal administration. The hostel is administered by a Warden appointed by the Director and he/she is assisted by an Asst. Warden in all matters relating to the hostel.
In total 84 single room accommodations and 40 double room accommodations are provided in the old and new hostels respectively. While the old hostel accommodates masters and research students, the new hostel provides accommodation to trainees and guests. Both the hostels run independent messes on a non-profit basis.
