The University of Jammu (Jammu Campus) is located in the City of Temples - Jammu Tawi. It has two other campuses in the North and South of Jammu. North Campus is located at Bhaderwah and the South Campus is at Kathua.
The Jammu Campus at Bahu Wali Rakh, is spread over an area of about 118.70 acres and another small old campus at Canal Road, having an area of 10.5 acres. Presently, in old campus, only residential accommodation for teaching, non-teaching staff and a boys hostel are located. The New Campus is well laid and is well earmarked for different activities. It has residential accommodation for all types of University employees.

In the campus there is a bookshop, a bank and a post office. There are canteens for refreshment at suitable places. For guests there is a well-maintained Guest House within the campus. A sports complex and grounds for different games and activities, constitute another important feature of the New Campus at Jammu.
A botanical and a cactus garden have since become star attraction on the campus. The University Executive Engineer and his establishment look after the construction and maintenance of the roads and buildings. There is a medical centre with outdoor services under the overall supervision of CMO.
Bhaderwah Campus-
Bhaderwah Campus established during the year 2006, in the hill resort town of Bhaderwah, District Doda of Jammu and Kashmir State, the Bhaderwah Campus of the University of Jammu is connected by road from Jammu, which ascends through the Shivaliks and after passing through the thick forests of Patnitop, it moves along the river Chenab and the rivulet of Neeru. This strikingly beautiful and technologically advanced Bhaderwah Campus has been specifically designed to create a stimulating atmosphere and is located at a prominent site. The Campus is aesthetic, user friendly, spacious and environment is serene and peaceful supplemented by greenery which provides right setting for learning. Well equipped Computer Labs with internet facility are available for the students to keep abreast of the latest happenings.
At Kathua Campus, only MBA course is being imparted, which have started in 2006. Besides it, the campus at Poonch and Ramnagar are coming up very fast. The University of Jammu has also satellites centres at Billawar, Reasi and at Patnitop to cater the needs of students at their doorsteps.
Teaching Departments :-
In 1969, at the time of its inception, the University had eleven teaching departments at Post-graduate level. At present there are thirty-three teaching departments offering Master's degree, M. Phil. Ph. D. and D. Lit. in different disciplines, besides LL.B, B. Lib. and some diploma courses. The courses like Master's degree programme in Business Administration, Tourism Management, Computer Applications, Environmental Sciences, Electronics, Bio-Technology, Sociology, Psychology, Physical Education and Strategic and Regional Studies are, available in the University.
Teaching at under-graduate level is imparted in affiliated colleges/institutions. There are B. Ed. Colleges, Medical Colleges, Engineering & Technology Colleges, Ayurvedic College, Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Oriental Institution besides colleges for Arts, Commerce and Science subjects.
To provide education at the doorsteps of the learners, University of Jammu has a Directorate of Distance Education offering various professional and non-professional courses at under-graduate and post-graduate level. Centre of Adult, Continuing Education and Extension offers short-term job oriented and professional courses. It conducts Adult Education programmes and Extension services, it besides provides special coaching for various competitive examinations to deprived sections of society and also to others. There is s a Guidance, Counseling and Employment bureau and a Yoga centre also functioning in the University.

The University Library is centrally located and constructed on modular plan. It has a total area of about 9,300 square feet which includes a stack area of about 36,000 square feet. The Library has three main reading halls and additional reading areas in the Textbook section, Periodical section, Jammu and Kashmir section, Reference section, Private books reading hall, besides a reading space for newspapers near the exhibition area. These areas provide reading facilities for about 500 readers.
The Central Library was renamed as Dhanvantri Library, University of Jammu by the Syndicate and the University Council. The nomanclature was changed to give recognion the work of Dhanvantri (1902-1953), in to the freedom movement and the socialist cause in India in general and Jammu and Kashmir in particular besides his contribution to land reforms in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Recognizing the crucial importance of computer networking, the University initiated its efforts by evolving a plan for developing a Campus Wide Computer Network with a mandate to link together all the computing resources located in different departments, centres and other buildings of the University for easy and effective access by the University community comprising of faculty, scientific and research personnel, students, and staff to a host within and/or outside the University of IT- based services such as the e-mail, internet, and access to a large variety of knowledge sources available. The  IT-Cell with an emphasis to make Jammu University an IT enabled University. Realizing that the Campus Network is the backbone for the implementation of Intranet and Internet applications, the Campus Networking project was conceived and proposed. Campus Networking & Internet Group headed by Prof. G.S. Sambyal was constituted to implement the project in a phased manner.

Health & Sports :-
The Yoga Centre was established in the University of Jammu on December 15, 1998 Vide University Order No. 98/II/642/526-31 dated 15-12-1998 under 9th plan of UGC scheme. The resolution 18 passed by the Syndicate at its meeting held on 02-04-1999 confirmed action taken by the University for starting the Yoga Centre in the University of Jammu. The Yoga Centre at the initial stage has been offering Three Months Certificate Course and an advance Course in Yoga. A number of persons including University Teachers, Students, Citizens, Scholars and Professionals have successfully undergone Yoga Courses in its various sessions.
 The Centre has been organizing Yoga camps at different hill stations which are surrounded by lush green environment with good climinate suitable for Yogic Asana, Pranayama and Meditation. The extension lectures were organized in the various Post-Graduate Departments of the University as well as lectures were delivered to the community for creating general awareness about Yoga. The Centre has also started P.G. Diploma Course in Yoga Therapy. It is a job oriented course and also meant for those who wish to undertake higher studies in the field of Yoga.
Canteen :-
There are two main cafeterias besides many of the corner canteens and eating points. One  cafeteria is near to the Science and Law blocks. Second cafeteria is housed in General Zorawar Singh Auditorium. Both of the cafeterias serve hygienic and quality food at competitive prices.
  The Auditorium has a seating capacity of more than 1500. The auditorium can be divided into two parts: the main auditorium with a capacity of more than 1000, and a mini auditorium - with its own hydraulic stage, acoustic, sliding-folding partition - with a seating capacity of about 500. Two hi-tech elevators are an added convenience. The Art Gallery in the basement houses the Curator’s Room, the Miniature Gallery, a special lift for the physically challenged and a Freight Elevator for carriage of Heavy artifacts. The T.V. Studio in the second basement includes a Control Room, Rehearsal Room, Editing Room and a modern studio. The ground floor includes the Museum, a Souvenir shop, a Photo Gallery, the Curator's Room and the Cafeteria. On the ground floor, there is also a Special Complex with facilities like a Lounge Room, Dining Hall, and Pantry and with direct access to the stage. In addition, the ground floor also hosts a Conference Room, a Communication Room, Administration Office, Green Room (Ladies), Green Room (Gents), and the Administrator’s Room. The first Floor houses a Seminar Room, the FM Radio Station, Media Centre, Office and two Exhibition halls. The second Floor houses Offices, several brain-storming rooms and an Art Studio for children. The third Floor has Conference Rooms, a Reading room-cum-library while the Master Control Room is located on the fourth floor.
Seminar & Conference Halls :-
The University of Jammu regularly keeps on holding National & International level conferences and seminars on various themes and disciplines. In order to cater to the diverse needs of the participants and the presenters, the University of Jammu hosts number of seminar and conference halls. The seminar hall in the Vice-Chancellor's secretariat is all time favourite for holding interaction among a group of 50-70 people. Besides it, JU also holds conferences and seminars through video conferencing, which is housed in a hall to accommodate 30-40 persons.
The Department of Computer Sciences & IT also hosts a spacious seminar hall which can accommodate170 persons.
The Department of Environmental Sciences has a round table seminar hall  which can accommodate 120 persons
The Business School has also added a seminar hall in its block. This seminar hall has a seating capacity of 50-70 persons.

The Hostels are neat, clean and possess all kinds of amenities for making the living of boarders recreational and enjoyable. The room of each hostel is well ventilated and airy. Few rooms in each hostel have single seated capacity and majority is double seated. Each hostel has a very big lush green sprawling lawn in front and backyard of the hostel. Each hostel has telephone facility, sports facility (T.T./Badminton/Chess etc) drinking water fitted with acquaguard, refrigerators, water coolers, television, modern cooking gas plant, geysers fitted, economical and affordable mess charges. Inverters are fitted for acting as standby light arrangement in the absence of power, good reading rooms with latest career and information promoting magazines, local/national papers subscribed, well furnished guest room and desired first aid is available in each Hostel.
The Doctor resides on the Campus and is available on call. The transport facility is available in each hostel for taking the students to the Hospital, if need be. The supporting staff is made available to each hostel. The day to day activities of the hostel are run by different committees of the Boarders. The University has set up kiosks near each hostel having the facility of PCO, Fax and Stationery items. The University/Hostels have matador/Mini-Bus facility at a stones throw distance from each hostel for visiting any part of the city. The Bus Stand, Railway Station and Airport are connected with public transport from each hostel of the University.
A rich culture is exhibited by the boarders of all the hostels. The boarders are involved in exchanging their culture by organizing important festivals of all religions. The boarders belonging to different parts of the country live in harmony with each other.
The Girls Hostels are known to have a distinct features of girls living in a well disciplined manner. The time limit is enforced for leaving the hostel and reporting back to the premises of the hostel. Attendance is taken on every day in the evening at the prescribed time and every boarder is required to be present prior to that. The Girls boarders are not allowed to leave the hostel thereafter. A strict vigil is kept on the entry and departure at the gate. No unauthorized person is ever allowed to enter into the hostel.
The affairs of the hostel are managed by a team of competent, dedicated, committed and mature Wardens who are always at the beck and call of the bonafide boarders round the clock. They render personal, social and economic guidance to all the boarders as and when required. All the boarders live in a very friendly, cosy and in an homely life atmosphere.
The Provost is available to the Boarders at all times for redressing the grievances of any kind relating to their stay in the hostel. The Vice-Chancellor too evinces keen interest in ensuring that the living of the boarders on the campus should be secure, safe and academic oriented.
All hostels are under the overall supervision of Provost. An independent office of the Provost has been set up to coordinate the working of all the hostels. All issues relating to the smooth working of the hostels are supervised by the Provost. The Provost coordinates with all the Wardens and renders guidance on all day to day issues of the hostel. All the boarders live in a very friendly and home like atmosphere.
