Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has its beginning in the establishment of an Agricultural School at Saidapet, Chennai during 1868 which was later relocated at Coimbatore. Since its establishment in 1971, TNAU is offering Undergraduate, Masters and Doctoral programs. The School of Postgraduate Studies is offering the following Masters and Doctoral programs.

The international students seeking admission to various disciplines in the Faculties of Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering and PG Education are placed at Coimbatore, the main campus of TNAU whereas, students seeking admission for Forestry and Home Science programs are placed at Mettupalayam (40 km from Coimbatore) and Madurai respectively.

TNAU library is the oldest in the city funtioning since 1910. The library is a distinct unit of TNAU and the mission of the TNAU library is to acquire information, process, organize and make them available for the present generation and preserve them for the future. It has acquired about 68,438 books, monographs, 17,121 text and reference books and 4,486 theses and dissertations. About 380 national and international journals are subscribed.

International students admitted through DARE- ICAR are provided with furnished accommodation in separate International Hostel. Students desiring to stay with the other Indian counterparts can also be accommodated in common hostels with nominal rent and they can also dine in a common mess.
