


| Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute Year of Establishment 1995 |
Government of India established Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute in 1995 as an autonomous academic institution under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The Institute was subsequently registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961. Located at Kolkata and named after the legendary film maestro Satyajit Ray, the Institute, the second of its kind in the country, is a National Centre offering post-graduate diploma courses in Film and Television. Besides offering regular full time courses, the Institute has plans to undertake project development, funding and production of fiction and non-fiction films. In addition, research work on film and television related issues are in the offing
INFRASTRUCTURAL FACILITIES
* Administrative Block
.The first structure on the left as one enters SRFTI, the two-storied Administrative Block houses the offices of the President, Director, Dean, Registrar, Administration, Accounts & Purchase Departments of the Institute

The department coordinates the 1-year Integrated Module [which is the first year for all students of the 3-year PG Diploma programme] as well as conducting the 2-year specialisation modul
Hostels
The Boys’ and Girls’ Hostels are equipped with all modern amenities including a multi-gym, and can accommodate 160 students on sharing basis.
The Institute has an in-house Canteen to cater to the needs of students and staff at reasonable rate. There is a Post Office inside the campus. Internet and photo copying facilities are also available to the students at a nominal rate.
Guest House
SRFTI has a well-furnished guest-house with 11 Double-bed AC Rooms, 2 AC Luxury Suites and 4 Non-AC Double-bed Rooms [with all conveniences like TV, intercom, room-service etc] and a spacious lobby and dining hall. Guest-house accommodation is available for the guests of the Insti
