Praveenya Institute of Marine Engineering & Maritime Studies (PRIME) was established in the year 2005 by a group of academicians and professional engineers on a sprawling area of 21 Acres of land. It is located on the outskirts of the port and steel city, the famous City of Destiny, Visakhapatnam, in the lap of nature. At present PRIME is the only approved institute in Andhra Pradesh for conducting 4 year BE Marine Engineering degree courses and it is recognized by AICTE and is affiliated to Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, one of the prestigious universities in India. Diesel / ICE shop

The workshop contains modern machinery and tools. The workshop is ergonomically designed and well ventilated from all sides. All necessary safety precautions are taken inside and outside the workshop premises.

What more can be offered than a library with a good collection of texts and material of knowledge under one roof. Keeping this in view PRIME has set up a library with a collection of over 5000 texts, periodicals and references authored by various nationals and experts. In addition, it has subscriptions for more than a dozen magazines and journals of National and International repute, relevant to the subjects. The library has a good collection of electronic copies of various topics related to Marine Engineering and Maritime Studies. The library is spacious, well lit and air conditioned. It is equipped with computers, scanner and photocopier. Sufficient copies are available for use by the cadets.

Labs:
PRIME has set all inhouse laboratories as per the guidelines. It has gone a step ahead by setting up state-of-the-art lab for advanced experiments, and practices in automation and control, hydraulics and pneumatics. The following laboratories have been set-up in spacious, multistoried building located within the campus.

Transport:
PRIME Management has developed very efficient transport facility with good number of buses, mini buses, cars.
Buses are running regularly from various important points in the city to campus. A shuttle bus service is made available from the main road to campus.

Computer Center:
PRIME institute has set-up a state of the art computer center within the premises well equipped with computers with latest configuration and gadgets. All are network connected and installed with programming languages as required by the curriculum.
It is basically meant for training the trainees in basics of computer operations, programming languages like C, C++, Java, Visual Basic etc. In addition the trainees would be taught hardware maintenance and servicing, software installation and networking.

Compulsory residential program as per D.G. RULES
PRIME believes that '' a healthy mind always resides in a healthy body'. A healthy body is maintained by a healthy atmosphere and surroundings.
The hostel is located in a serene environment in the lap of nature within the campus. The rooms are spacious, well furnished and special care has been taken to ensure sufficient ventilation, air supply. Each block has its own common room, toilets, and baths etc. Hostel is provided with standby Green Generator.
