Of Orissa has given its due recognition and concurrence to the institute. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the apex governing body of all the technical education institutes in the country, has given its due approval to the college.

Placement Score of an Institute is a major index that projects the image of the Institution to the outside world. With this end in view, the College has formed a separate department called the Training, Placement and Students' Affairs Department headed by a senior Professor who has retired from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela.

Cultural Cell:

This Cell also operates under the advice and close monitoring of the HOD, Training and Placement and Students affairs. Under this auspices of the cell several cultural activities like Orientation Program foe Freshers, external lectures, Annual Day and other cultural activities are undertaken.

Wi-Fi Campus:

It was felt that for efficient management and healthy growth of the College, communication, interaction and monitoring system must be improved. Therefore it was decided to convert the College into an e-campus through WLAN (Wireless Local Area Networking), which use radio waves to communicate among devices. An access point (AP) with an antenna is physically connected to a conventional wired Ethernet network and Servers as a bridge to the wireless network. Wi-Fi WLAN also supports communication among the client systems, allowing the devices to communicate directly with one another in a peer-to peer fashion.Up to approximately 150 feet, a Wi-Fi 802.11b WLAN typically can deliver broadband performance with a signaling speed of up to 11 Mbps. Actual performance depends upon the signal pattern and the number of walls, floors and other architectural obstacles in the area. Wi-Fi 802.11a WLANs can achieve speeds of up to 54 Mbps within a somewhat reduced range.

PCE has installed the wireless equipments, which can give a signal strength up to 5 km range.

In order to use the system effectively the students admitted this year, have been advised to purchase their own High-end Laptops with wire-less technology, which were made available to them through the College at concessional rate. Wherever required, Bank loan was also arranged for the students.

Health Care:

As efficiency, both mental and physical, is an absolute necessity, it should not only be developed but also maintained. Students in this Institute are being helped combat and prevent the impending psychometric maladies and serious physical disorders. To take care of emergency medical requirements, IGH, the Super specialty Hospital is situated in the close vicinity where both staff and students can be admitted in case of an emergency, Besides, the college has appointed an experienced Doctor who periodically visits the college and the Hostels, and gives necessary advice in case of minor aliments.

There is an efficient guide who helps each student explore and illuminate their inner strength with the knowledge and guidance of yoga, meditation, aerobics, diet etc.

The Padmanava College of Engineering, Rourkela gives high priority to Hostel accommodation. Separate Hostel accommodation for gents and ladies students, particularly for outside students are available nearer to the college. Intending students shall enquiry in advance from Superintendent of respective hostel regarding availability of accommodation either in 1st year / subsequent year and prepare accordingly.

Pre Placement Training for students :

The department also arranges Pre Placement Training of the students where they are given adequate dosage on Communication Skill, English Language capability, Personality development, Logical Reasoning, Quick Arithmetic, Group Discussion, Personal Interview etc. During the session 2005-06 we had engaged IMS Learning Centre, Rourkela and Nicco Internet Venture Ltd., Kolkata to impart such training to students. Training is futile if there is no assessment. With this in mind, conduct Common Placement Test of the National Technology Foundation, Hyderabad in College, so that the students can know where they stand in the Job Market and re-organise themselves for future.

Arranging extra curricular activities : 

The department organises Study Tour of students to various Industries all over the country, Orientation Programme for the Freshers, Sports, several cultural activities and issue of Railway Concessions to the students for joining Training Organisations, going to their native place during vacations and attending national seminars and cultural programmes anywhere in the country.

Besides arranging the statutory Vocational Summer Training, the Training and Placement department also conducts Technical as well as Non-Technical Seminars by inviting reputed academicians and erudite scholars from IIT s, NITs and other Professionals from leading industries.

Placement of the students :

The department interacts extensively with companies and arranges on and off campus interviews for its students. Its efforts have borne fruit very early (Check the placement Statistics) and it hopes to better the placement achievement every year.
