To strengthen academic programmes with introduction of new courses in emerging areas at the Advanced Diploma, Graduate and Postgraduate levels.

To create centre of excellence and to encourage advanced studies to promote academic research.

To promote international & National collaborations and joint venture in research & academic programmes.

To augment institute-industry interactions and to offer consultancy / training /refresher courses / unit based programmes and library information services to industry.

To carry out industrial research, design and development work in the areas of materials technology.

Scholarship:

The students admitted to this course shall be entitled to scholarship of Rs. 450/- per month for a maximum period of 18 months. A student allowed to appear in supplementary examination of a semester for the course he was admitted may, if required, be permitted to attend the classes of the next semester with prior written permission from the Director and in that case the student shall not be entitled to the scholarship. If a student is promoted to the next semester after the supplementary examination, his case may be regularized and may be governed as per the rules and regulations for regular admitted students.

All the necessary equipment for practical work including drawing boards will be provided by the institute. The students will however be expected to have their own drawing instruments, set squares, T. Squares, drawing sheet, stationery, text books, note books etc.

Library:

The institute's library is well equipped with latest books, periodicals, slides, films, charts etc. in the fields of foundry & forge technology. The students can avail of the lending facility for books only. The books issued to them should be returned on or before the due date slip. A fine of Rs.1/- per day per book shall be payable by the students in the event of their not depositing the book by the due date. The librarian has the right to recall any book even before the due date for any urgent requirement. The loan period may be shortened when the books are in acute demand. Readers are requested not to enter the library with their personal effects writing material.

Computer Centre:

The Institute is equipped with a Horizon III.32 bit computer multi-user system, with a large number of terminals, personal computers, CAD-CAM facilities, and NEXUS Graphics Work Station for the use of students during their studies and project work. Computer application is an essential part of studies and students are encouraged to write their own programme.
