In the short span of its existence it has moved swiftly ahead to carve a niche for itself as an institution promoting all round excellence. In a nutshell, Karunya is a co-educational, fully residential, Technological University imparting holistic education to develop the body, mind and spirit of the students.
The Making of a University
The origin of the Institution is amazing. In the year 1981, Late Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran, God's servant received the divine commission to start a Technical University which could turn out outstanding engineers with leadership qualities at the national and global level. Building up such a great Institution was no easy task. The Dhinakarans had to face innumerable trials and tribulations including the tragic death of their dear daughter during the course of this great endeavor. But nothing could stop them from reaching the goal.
The Vision
In response to the divine command Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran received from the Lord Almighty, the Institute was established with the vision of turning out of its portals engineers excelling both in academics and values. They will be total persons with the right combination of academic excellence, personality development and spiritual values.
The Mission
    * To provide the youth with the best opportunities and environment for higher education and research in engineering, technology , medical and other arts and sciences to help them to attain very high levels of academic excellence and scientific temper, technical and professional competencies and life skills.
    * To train and develop youth as total persons who would be endowed with divine power and compassion to serve humanity, to alleviate their suffering through prayer, counseling and good works.
    * Inculcate in students values and make them appreciate the need for high ethical in personal, social and public life in order to enable them to reach higher levels, to become leaders, to be voice in order to influence society and nation with a view, to uphold and promote a just social order.

Karunya has a creditable record of placement of its final year students and graduates. A good number of final year students plan to go for higher studies in India or abroad or turn entrepreneurs.
As per recent trends  about 80% of eligible final year students, who seek a placement, are placed with reputed organizations at the initiative of the Karunya University prior to their leaving the campus.
Apart from Placement interviews on other campuses in and around Coimbatore, in which our students participate, a number of interviews are held on our campus.

The Computer Technology Centre provides e-mail services to the entire Karunya community. Our network is secured through a Watch Guard X-5000 series Firewall. 
The Computer Technology Centre with a total floor area of 2812 sq.m houses 20 Computer laboratories with centralized air conditioning and adequate uninterruptible power supply.
The Karunya campus LAN interconnecting about 1547 computers serve the desktop needs of the students, faculty, and the administrative staff of the University.  Desktops in the campus include iMAC, Silicon Graphics, Sun Solaris, Pentium IV (Dual Core and Core 2 duo) etc.
In addition to the above computing facility at the educational campus, about 210 computers cater to the needs of the students at the hostels, facilitating them to work on the computers late into the night.
The Computer Technology Centre has a stock of latest software such as, AutoCAD 2008, Oracle 10g, SQL Server, Multimedia and Virtual Reality Software, Rational Suite Enterprise, .Net, Novell Open Enterprise server, MatLab, ProE, Ansys, Autodesk packages, Mentor Graphics etc.,
Welcome to the Central Library, which is one of the central support services of Karunya University. The library homepage will provide electronic access to various full text and bibliographical databases. The Central library is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of CD-ROM, On-line databases, e-journals, e-books, audio video cassettes, books, journals, project reports etc. Links from the home page will direct you to information on library policies, hours, collections and services. The mission of the Central library is to provide information services and access to bibliographical and full text digital and printed resources to support the scholarly and informational needs of the Institute user community.

Caring for the guest is developed to a fine art. The house provides you the real view and best of peace. The House is an elegant and situated on the beds of tropical Mountains. The house is located 26kms from the Domestic Airport and 40 minutes Drive from Coimbatore Railway Junction and City Business Centre.

Each student is provided with a cot, a table and a chair in their respective rooms. Each room is provided with a ceiling fan.
Reading Room
Each hostel has a reading room where news papers, periodicals and popular magazines are made available.
Television Room
Each hostel has a separate Television room with cable connection.
Internet & Computer Centre facilities
Round the clock online Internet facilities are extended to the rooms of the students. Apart from this each hostel unit has a computer center with internet facilities to meet the need of the students till midnight.
Counseling Hall Counseling and Prayer cells are available and active in each hostel to facilitate counseling the students and conduct prayers. Students of all faiths can avail of these services.
