Every great event, it has been well said , brings one absolute new thing into world. Such an event was, starting of the K. L. E. Society in 1916 by seven dedicated teachers and three generous patrons. Their mission was to provide education basically, to children of farming community who constitute a significant majority in Karnataka. Though modest and unadvertised was their act, yet it created a sensation in the educational history of this region.

The environment today is totally different from the one in 1916,yet the mission of founders of K.L.E Society is pursued with the same zeal even after 93 years in fulfillment of the vision of providing education to the needy in all spheres of human knowledge.

With a strong network of over 204 educational institutes spread in Karnataka, part of Maharashtra and even in Delhi, the K.L.E. Society enjoys an unrivalled status in India, especially in South. To advance the cause of education, the Society has employed over 8,226 men and women committed to academic excellence, and has over 71,883 students on it’s roll and Rs.5 billion in assets .Obviously, the K.L.E. Society today stands second to none. The rush for admissions for all classes and courses right from 

K. G. to P. G. in professional as well as traditional streams of learning speaks of high standard that the K.L.E. has sent over years.

In functioning of the K.L.E. Society the true spirit of democracy runs. The management of the society is effective and ably carried out by the Chairman of Board of Management consisting of 15 members duly elected as per the constitutional provisions of the society. The president and Vice-President guide the Chairman while the Life Members frame academic guidelines.

The financial transparency is maintained through regular audit system.

Library:

The Lingaraj College Library one of the oldest library with a rich collection of books capable of meeting the changing needs and demands of present and future was established along with the inception of the college. The collection includes 92,546 volumes and 156 periodicals. It is indeed a book lover’s paradise and oasis for the knowledge thirsty people.

As a part of fight against illiteracy, libraries are messengers of knowledge and education. Education bereft of library services is like a body without soul. Education and library services are the two faces of a coin and one cannot live apart from the other. The users are given free of cost access to Internet / DELNET. Lingaraj are sure to keep ourselves in the mainstream by sensitizing library to the ever-changing needs of the stakeholders.

Computer Laboratory:

‘Digital Vision’ the computer laboratory is a unique feature of the college. It houses 45 Pentium III Compaq computers. The machines are connected with   an NT Server. There is a separate cabin which houses 5 computers connected with dial up network for internet facility. The Practicals for B. Com and B. B. A classes and training in computers for Arts students are carried out in the Digital Vision Computer Lab.

Internet Facilities:

Besides providing reference material to the students in the form of reference books, the college gives internet facility to the students. The students have got free access to this facility, through this facility the students can keep their knowledge updated.

The internet facility provided by the college is a real boon to the academically advanced students; the students who want to get first hand information about the career options, job opportunities etc.

Language Lab:

Considering the growing need for communication skills and to meet these specific needs of the students, the college has started a language laboratory spending nearly Ten lakhs.

The lab equipped with the latest gadgets and software accommodates 15 students at a time.

The students are given the training in communication skill, grammar, phonetics, conversations etc. by the tutor on the centrally monitored computer.

The study material in the form of softwares caters to the different needs and requirements of the students in developing the communication skills.
