The management of the Institute is entrusted in the hands of the Board of Governors having the Union Minister for Tourism as its Chairperson. The efforts of the Institute have been instrumental in evolving the fundamental framework for tourism education and training in the country as it exists today. The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has also entrusted the institute to conduct regional level guide training programmes for all the regions of the country. The institute is celebrating its silver jubilee year from 18th January 2007 to mark its purposeful existence in service of the nation.

IITTM is a founder member of UN-ESCAP promoted Network of Asia-Pacific Educational and Training Institute in Tourism (APETIT). It offers two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programmes approved by AICTE and  equivalent to MBA. Looking to the demands of Indian and global economy, our programmes offer dual specializations for learners to enable them to acquire the right  skill set with ample flexibility to adapt to employing organization’s needs.

Placement activities at IITTM are managed by a Placement Committee along with four student representatives from each programme .The Placement Committee provides overall supervision and directions for summer internship as well as final placement of the students. The Committee consists of one Faculty as Placement Coordinator and a group of faculty members and academic associates chaired by the Director.
