Indian Insatitute of Science Education and Research ( IISER ) - Kolkata was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. IISER - K is designed to reach the prestigious position in the global setting that IISc, IIMs and IITs presently enjoy.  IISER - K is an autonomous institution awarding its own degrees. The central theme of the IISER - K is to integrate education with research so that undergraduate teaching as well as doctoral and postdoctoral research work could be carried out in symbiosis.

Computer Facility :

IISER has its Computer Center to maintain the Proxy,mail,DNS,DHCP,web & library services. It also provides the computation facility to the students, faculty and staff members of the institute. It has various high end servers like AMD quad core, rack servers, IBM xeon servers for the purpose. Computer center also provides the network service to the institute.Presently the center has a computation lab & a server room. computation lab is equiped with more than 30 high end dual boot workstations.The computatonal lab is used by various departments for simulation & programming.Students only use linux environment for internet access. Network printer & scanner are configured with all the clients for helping users.The institute ha
