The classrooms at IIM I do not just create an atmosphere that is conducive to learning but in a sense nurture the quest for knowledge that the students possess. The original classrooms all seat 60 students. Anticipating capacity constraints, new classrooms were added in 2008 with the capacity to seat upto 120 students. In contrast to the PGP classrooms, which offer a linear seating arrangement, the MDP classrooms provide more flexibility with round tables that can be arranged in an ad-hoc fashion to facilitate more interaction among the participants.

There are also separate Seminar rooms, Audio-Visual rooms and seminar halls equipped with state-of-the-art videoconferencing facilities.

Library:
The IIMI Library with its modern collection of knowledge resources and innovative information services fills an essential role for students, faculty, and the surrounding community in their intellectual pursuits. It is a hybrid library with the state-of-the-art technological applications. The Library holds knowledge resources predominantly related to management and allied subjects. The entire Library collection including the CD-ROM databases and the online databases are made available through Institute’s network. Users can access the online databases and also find out the real-time availability of library materials from their own computer terminals. The Library offers a range of information services to support the learning process set to the highest professional standards. IIMI Library is an active member of IIM Consortia & INDEST Consortia.

The library building has a sprawling space of 2,500 sq. mt., with central air-conditioning and having designated areas for different sections of the library, which stimulate a nice ambiance for reading.

Library has a Tulsient CD-MIRROR server, which can host more than 1500CDs and another Pentium server to host the IIMI Digital Library. All the databases have been web-enabled and made available on the Institute’s LAN through the Digital Library. Every functional unit in the library has been equipped with a network computer to enable smooth information flow. Also there are six computers kept inside the library to facilitate information accessing by users. Library also has DVD, VCR, Scanner, Video Camera and HP LaserJet Printer.

IT Infrastructure:
The Indian Institute of Management Indore has truly world class, campus wide state-of-the-art information technology tools that are designed to meet the computing and communication needs of the Institute. IIM Indorehas a fast, reliable and rugged computer network of more than 1300 Nodes. This network has a Gigabit fiber backbone connectivity to all the blocks and departments. The network has a redundant design which includes two no. of core switches to cater to network connectivity for the entire campus. All the hostels, faculty blocks, the admin block, classroom blocks, the MDP block, the library & the seminar block are connected through redundant gigabit fiber backbone and apart from the above, all the blocks are connected through layer 2 & 3 switches to provide 100 mbps connectivity at the user end. Every hostel room has a dedicated LAN connection on the institute's network to provide round the clock access to resources on the net. Wireless network is also enabled in the faculty block, Library, class rooms, MDC & hostel blocks.

Sports Facilities:
Situated atop a very scenic hillock, the campus offers plenty of beautiful spaces for students to take part in a whole range of sporting activities. The scenic, slightly winding road down the hill to the institute gates, for example, is used extensively for both jogging and walking by the students and faculty alike. One can in fact find students jogging down the well-lit roads even at 3am. Wide, open lawns and cleared spaces also provide excellent opportunities for impromptu games of badminton or football. Like the rest of India though, it is cricket that rules.

Each of the hostel blocks has a square in the center that has either a basketball court or a badminton courts or both. The well maintained turf are relaid frequently in consultation with experts, to provide the best and safest facilities for students to play on. The squares in the larger blocks can frequently be found entertaining games of cricket. Three of the hostel blocks have floodlights so that games of cricket, basketball or badminton can be found going on into the wee hours of the morning.

The institute takes great pride in its state of the art Gymnasium. The gym is equipped with most modern work out machines like exercise bike, rowing machine, stepper and multigym. Also, dumbbells and discs are available in all sizes to provide participants extensive free weight training. All the three types - Flat, Inclined and Declined - are available for the bench-press enthusiasts. The Gym floor features a layer of plywood and adds to the ambience of the Gym, making the workout a highly enjoyable and refreshing experience. A complete boxing kit consisting of punching bags and gloves adds another feather to the cap. The institute also employs the services of part-time yoga trainer and weight instructor. With the anticipated increase in the intake of particpants, another gym is being contructed n one of the new hostel blocks.

The PGP is currently a full-time residential programme and plans are on to make the MDP programme also a residential one by 2010. Single-seated accommodation facilities are available for all PGP participants in the campus premises, with separate blocks for men and women. MDP participants have a separate MDP hostel block while a housing block is available for FPM participants. Aesthetically designed, the hostel blocks are spread around the canteen, on the sides of the hillock. The hostels are interconnected, mostly in blocks of three.

Each block is also equipped with fully automatic washing machines and each floor is further equipped with landline phones, water coolers and water purifiers. Students also make use of the open terraces on each block for various purposes, ranging from drying clothes to hosting parties.

The individual rooms are furnished with teak cots and bedding, a computer table, chairs, closets and shelves. All rooms have full time internet connectivity with direct lines to the main LAN. The housekeeping staff are available through the week except Sundays and take care of cleaning the rooms, corridors and rest rooms on a daily basis.
