Bishop Cotton Women's Christian College was established in 1985 by the Karnataka Central Diocese, Church of South India with a mission to serve the educational needs of women in society. Character formation, academic excellence and service to the student community are principles. While the College is open to students from different communities, nationalities and economic status, its commitment is in accordance to the avowed intentions of the founders i.e. education and upliftment of the Christian community. Bishop Cotton Women's Christian College is an offshoot of the Bishop Cotton Girls School and carries with it a rich tradition and 140 years of experience in imparting education.

Library & Information Centre:
The library is well equipped with subject and reference books. It subscribes to international journals, periodicals and magazines. In 2005, a documentation center was started that contains newspaper clippings, which supplement the books and provides latest information in various fields of knowledge.
