B.M.S College for Women is an offshoot of B.M.S. Educational Trust. It is one of the prestigious institutions located in the south of Bangalore city. The college was established by late Sri. B.S. Narayan, son of Dharma Prakasha Rajakarya Prasaktha Sri. B.M. Sreenivasaiah under the B.M.S Educational Trust in 1964, to cater to the educational needs of ‘Women’. The college, initially, started with 34 students at the Pre University level. In 1966, B.A. and B.Sc., degree courses were introduced. In succeeding years, depending on the needs of the society, B.Com and B.B.M. courses were also introduced. Later in 1986 and 1987, new combinations with Electronics, Computer Science and Microbiology were added at degree level. During 1990 – 1991, the college celebrated its Silver Jubilee and honored meritorious students. In 1995, vocational courses in Biotechnology and Insurance were added taking the assistance from UGC. In 1999, BCA with the semester system was introduced. In all, 16 programmes are provided at the undergraduate level and the students are free to choose any programme of their choice. The college has grown in quality and quantity over the years. In a span of four decades, the students' strength has increased one hundred times from a small strength of 34 during 1964 to strength of over 3000 students at present.     
           
The college has a well designed building with 35 spacious and well ventilated lecture halls, each having a seating capacity of 120 students. There are 15 staff rooms, 2 museums, an open air auditorium, a sports centre, an administrative block, seminar Hall and a library. There is also a cafeteria on the campus. The college has highly qualified faculty who impart quality education to the students.

It arranges interviews for students from different companies and organizations for their placements. It also organizes workshops and presentations for the students in different fields to develop soft skills to face interviews, group discussion and competitive examination with confidence. Many students have been placed in multinational companies through campus selection.

Physics Department has four well equipped laboratories which can accommodate nearly 40 students to conduct experiments simultaneously.     
           
Electronics Department has a separate laboratory with latest equipment.
       
Chemistry Laboratory: The entire basement area is set apart for Chemistry Laboratory. It has excellent facility for conducting experiments in Physical, Organic, Inorganic and Biochemistry. It is well equipped with latest gadgets.     
           
Botany and Zoology Laboratories have the most modern infrastructure. Museums attached to these laboratories speak volumes about the hard work involved.     
           
Biotechnology Department has two laboratories. It has all the infrastructure to conduct highly complicated experiments. It is the latest and the most modern laboratory that a student can think of.     
           
Computer Science Department has two laboratories with many good systems that the modern world demands. The old and obsolete systems are replaced by new and updated systems with latest configuration and the most sought after facility – the internet.
     
Commerce Department has a Business Laboratory which is setup recently to help all the students to learn computer fundamentals in a systematic manner.

Seminar Hall:               
The seminar hall which has a seating capacity of more than 100 people. It is named after our founder late Sri.B.S.Narayan.

Auditorium:     
The college boasts of not one but two auditoriums. The smaller auditorium facing the cafeteria has a seating capacity of 500 which is available for smaller gatherings. The larger auditorium situated at the entrance of the college has a seating capacity of 3000.Since both the auditorium are open air, shamiyana is erected on requirement.

Hostel     
A hostel of international standard that caters to the needs of students coming from other states / countries is situated in the premises of BMS college engineering college.

Canteen     
The college cafeteria is the favourite hang out of the students and the teachers too who find the food tasty, hygienic and moderately priced.
