Anbanathapuram Vahaira C harities College, founded in the year 1955, has completed FIFTY years of its existence. The growth of the institution has been remarkable. The College today stands like a colossus, proud of the thousands of alumni that adorn positions of prominence in all walks of life, thanks to the education that they received in their alma mater. The Golden Jubilee of A.V.C. College is an opportunity for everyone who have passed through its corridors to revisit their temple of learning and contribute to its growth to achieve greater glory. The college celebrated the Silver Jubilee in 1980-81. The college was conferred autonomous status in 1987. The college celebrated the Golden Jubilee in 2005-06.

Students Co-operative Stores:
The college has a Co-operative Stores. It enables the students to purchase books, note books and other stationery articles at a moderate price. Students are exepected to join the stores as members by subscribing for atleast one share Re.1 in value. A trade deposit of Rs.615/- is collected from each student at the time of admission. The co-operative stores is under the direct supervision of the Department of Commerce. 'Courteous Service' is the motto of the stores.
The Co-operative stores will remain open from 10am to 4pm on all working days.

... >>Separate hostels for boys and girls function in the College Campus. The girls' hostel has accommodation for 200 students and the gens hostel for 250 students. Students who want accommodation in the hostels should apply to the Deputy Warden of the concerned hostel soon after their admission in the College. Daily mess rate is worked out on the basis of dividing system.

Nowadays Training the students for self-employment is one of the challenges of educational institutions. Hence the women students are imparted the skill of tailoring by providing sewing machines. Students are trained by an expert in dress making between 10am and 1pm on all working days.
Both men and women students are trained on Apicculture (Bee keeping) and Mushroom culture by the concerned teaching faculty.
