The Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar, was established on October 20,1995 by an Act of the Legislature of the State of Haryana with the objectives 'to facilitate and promote studies and research in emerging areas of higher education with focus on new frontiers of technology, pharmacy, environmental studies, non-conventional energy sources and management studies and also to achieve excellence in these and connected fields'. It was formally inaugurated on November 1, 1995. It is named after Guru Jambheshwar Ji Maharaj, a saint environmentalist of 15th century. There are two independent Training & Placement Cells - One for Haryana School of Business and the other for Engineering courses. In addition, every department has a Training & Placement In-charge who coordinates these activities with the Central Training & Placement Cells. There is one Training and Placement Advisory Council headed by the Vice-Chancellor.
Industry-Institute Partnership Cell has been established with assistance from the AICTE. There is also a Business Development Group established to promote ties with the Industry.
The placement scenario is encouraging. Almost all the students get jobs either through campus interviews or directly.
To provide residential facilities in the form of hostel accommodation to the maximum number of students is in the priority of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology. University provides hostel accommodation to all girls students who make a request for it. There are six hostels for boys and girls in the university, which can house more than 1600 students. In addition to this One hostel (Working Woman Hostel) is exclusively being constructed for Ph.D. Research scholar and Working Woman in the University. Each hostel is provided with indoor and outdoor game facilities by the hostel administration and as well as by the sports department.
